Blood value check Minerals Complete
This test measures the following in the blood:
- Iron
- Zinc
- Selenium
- Phosphorus phosphate (inorganic)
Minerals are of great importance to our metabolism. Deficiencies can cause troublesome symptoms.
When the iron levels in the blood are too low, you can suffer from fatigue, difficulty concentrating, dizziness, palpitations and shortness of breath. You can also feel weak and lifeless and you are more susceptible to infections such as the flu virus.
A zinc deficiency makes you more susceptible to infections. You can also recognize it in brittle nails, hair loss, loss of appetite, night blindness and slow wound healing. For men a zinc deficiency can lead to reduced fertility and libido. Women may suffer from a disturbed menstrual cycle.
A deficiency of selenium can manifest itself in heart failure, muscle pain and muscle weakness. In men a deficiency can lead to a reduced production of seminal fluid. It also plays an important role in the thyroid gland, an organ that controls the metabolism in our body. When you often feel cold, tired and listless, this can indicate a slow thyroid gland.
Phosphorus supports energy metabolism, plays a role in bone formation and is important for strong teeth. Again, fatigue is an important symptom of a deficiency.
