> 18 years : 5,5 - 22,9 µg / l

♀ <50 years : 4,9 - 26,6 µg / l

≥ 50 years : 5,2 - 24, 4 µg / l

Method: Chemiluminescence Assay (CLIA)

This test is done in case of suspicion of increased bone turnover (osteoporosis, osteoblastic metastasis)

Increased in: hyperparathyroidism, bone metastases, Paget's disease, renal osteodystrophy, osteoporosis, after renal transplantation.

Decreased in : hypophosphatasia rare inherited disorder causing bone pain.
