Burnout Saliva Test For Stress
The Burnout Saliva Test consists of:
- Adrenal Stress Index
- Cortisol (daily profile)
- DHEA (morning and evening value)
If you have symptoms that look like burnout, you can use this test to identify the cause.
This test does not require a blood draw, you can take the test yourself at home and submit it in the materials provided.
Attention! This test does not fit through the mailbox. You need to receive it as a package.
Burnout usually starts with feelings of emotional and physical exhaustion. It usually starts vaguely, not feeling good about yourself, sleeping badly, feeling hunted, no desire for sex, no desire for work and social contacts, fatigue. Eventually there is a feeling of being burned out, unable to concentrate, poor memory. This often makes you feel insecure and you no longer dare to make decisions. Anxiety attacks and memory disorders can also occur.
Chronic stress is bad for your health. Occasional stress is good. The body reacts just as it used to when fleeing danger, but if it goes on too long it is very bad for the body. The immune system becomes dysregulated making it susceptible to all kinds of diseases. Blood pressure rises and fertility decreases. Eventually, chronic stress will lead to hormonal imbalance.
With this sample test you can see if there is a burnout. Just taking rest is not enough, it is better to start working proactively. This is the first step to take control again and through lifestyle and nutrition, climb back up the mountain.
In this test, the hormones cortisol and DHEA are measured in saliva. Both hormones are produced by the adrenal cortex.
Cortisol has extensive effects on various organs in the body: it acts as an anti-inflammatory; it maintains blood glucose levels, blood pressure and muscle strength; and it helps to balance salt and fluid levels. When the body is subject to stress, cortisol production is increased. Because the same basic ingredients are used in part for DHEA, DHEA production is reduced. DHEA affects mood, immune system, blood circulation, blood sugar, bone metabolism, sexual functioning and physical strength. It protects the nervous system and improves cognitive functions and memory.
Changes in common cortisol levels indicate the response to stress. Changes in DHEA levels indicate the degree of adaptation to stress. Cortisol and DHEA must be present in proportion to each other, which is why the Cortisol/DHEA ratio is also determined.
In bound form, hormones are inactive. Therefore, to determine specific hormonal activities, it is important to determine the concentration of free hormones. About 95 to 99% of adrenal hormones in blood are bound to proteins, for example CBG (corticosteroid-binding globulin), SHBG (sex hormone-binding globulin) and albumin. In contrast, in saliva this is only 1-5%.
Symptoms that prompt the use of this test include: exhaustion, low immunity, strong mood swings, skin problems, osteoporosis, accelerated aging: cognitive decline (memory problems) and decrease in responsiveness. Chronic stress may have led to the above symptoms. The adrenal gland may then have become depleted, lowering not only DHEA but also cortisol levels.

Make sure you keep yourself to the exact times for saliva collection of set times of hormone sample collection. The collection times and the reference values are linked. So the more accurate the collection at the set times the more accurate the results will be.
- Immediately after waking up
- ½ hour after waking up
- 1 hour after waking up
- 2 hours after waking up
- 5 hours after waking up
- 8 hours after waking up
- 12 hours after waking up
In case of deviating times the sample can be rejected and you will have to take it again.
The last measurement must be taken exactly 12 hours after the first measurement, so it depends on what time you wake up. If the last measurement is taken after 5 p.m., the filled tubes can be kept in the refrigerator's vegetable drawer, so mail all tubes the next day.
The measurement should be done on an average day, where there is not excessive stress.
