C-peptide from urine
This test looks at how much c-peptide is in the urine. This can deduce how your body reacts to sugar and the extent to which your body cells are likely to be insensitive to insulin.
Symptoms you may experience with insulin resistance:
- Fatigue
- Thirst
- Dizziness
- Fancy sweet
You can also choose to determine the and insulin from the blood. The disadvantage may then be that any injected insulin is also measured. C-peptide is a substance entirely of the body. This test is primarily used to determine whether a person, newly diagnosed with diabetes, has type 1 or type 2. If the fasting C-peptide is low, it fits type 1 diabetes. This is because people with type 2 diabetes usually have enough insulin (and thus C-peptides) in their blood, but their insulin sensitivity is (greatly) reduced.
