Calcium from urine
This test measures the amount of calcium in the urine.
Some reasons why measuring calcium in urine may be important:
- Kidney stones: People with high levels of calcium in the urine have a higher risk of developing calcium-rich kidney stones.
- Hypercalciuria: This involves an abnormally high amount of calcium excreted in the urine. It can be indicative of several conditions, such as hyperparathyroidism, renal tubular acidosis, or vitamin D toxicity.
- Bone health: it can lead to weakening of bones and conditions such as osteoporosis.
- Monitoring treatment
- Nutrition and medication assessment
