hCG from blood
hCG quantitative in serum. hCG, beta-human chorionic gonadotropin.
To determine if a woman is pregnant.
human Chorionic Gonadotropin
hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) is the growth factor for the placenta and is produced after fertilization of an egg. An increased hCG therefore indicates pregnancy, and that is what the principle of the pregnancy test is based on. Apart from pregnancy, hCG can also be produced by some tumors.
Note: gestational age is calculated from date of last menses.
< 5: No pregnancy (hcgn)
5-100: Low HCG value, not probative of pregnancy. To follow. (hcg1)
100-1000: Early pregnancy (hcg4)
1,000-10,000: HCG value +/- 5 weeks of pregnancy (hcg5)
10,000-25,000: HCG value +/- 6 weeks of pregnancy (hcg6)
25,000-50,000: HCG value +/- 7 weeks of pregnancy (hcg7)
50,000-150,000: HCG value 8 or more weeks of pregnancy (hcg8)
beta-HCG range depends on week of pregnancy: unit: U/l
week 1 : 6 - 72
week 2 : 10 - 750
week 3 : 220 - 7150
week 4 : 3000 - 19000
week 5 - 8 : 14000 -164000
week 9 - 12 : 16000 - 211000
conversion factor U/l x 1 = IU/l
Delivery time
For women in a treatment program, delivery time is crucial.
Our advice is to order this test in time so that you have the tubes in hand.
P.S. The determination of HCG (human choriogonadotropin) is a pregnancy test. Therefore, this analysis is performed only in women. As a tumor marker in choriocarcinomas, in germinal ovarian tumors and obligatory in combination with AFP (alpha-1-foetoprotein) in testicular tumors, you should have beta-HCG determined.
