hs-CRP (inflammation or infection ultra sensitive)
Hs-CRP stands for high-sensitive C-reactive protein, or high-sensitivity C-reactive protein. It is a protein produced by the liver in response to inflammation in the body.
Hs-CRP is primarily used to:
- Inflammation detection: Low-grade inflammation can also be sported with this. These are not directly related to infections or acute diseases.
- Cardiovascular disease: Assessing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Chronic, low-grade inflammation plays a role in the development of atherosclerosis (arteriosclerosis) and other heart problems.
Note! The normal determination of CRP is performed to demonstrate or rule out the possible presence of inflammation or infection, or to monitor the outcome of treatment of inflammation.
