iGene DNA test Health Morbus Wilson saliva test
iGene DNA test: health Wilson disease, also known as morbus Wilson
Disorders & lifestyle, Drug sensitivity & pharmacogenetics, Personal characteristics.
Extra: With this version than the IGene health test, the Morbus Wilson gene from the raw lab data is analyzed and interpreted for you.
This requires an informed consent.
A genetic test for Wilson's disease, also known as morbus Wilson, looks for mutations in the ATP7B gene. This gene is responsible for encoding a protein essential for transporting copper in the body. Wilson disease is an inherited disorder in which the body cannot process and excrete copper properly, leading to excessive accumulation of copper in organs such as the liver, brain and other tissues.
It looks for specific mutations in the ATP7B gene that can cause morbus Wilson. These mutations can lead to reduced or absent function of the protein involved in copper transport.
Genetic test results can help diagnose morbus Wilson, especially in cases where clinical symptoms and other diagnostic tests are inconclusive. In addition, genetic testing can be useful for family members of a patient with morbus Wilson to assess their risk for the disease and to identify carrier status for the mutation. For example, for family planning, since the disease is inherited autosomal recessive, meaning that a child can inherit the disease if both parents are carriers of a mutation in the ATP7B gene.
iGene HEALTH is the most complete DNA test. Through a saliva sample we map out part of your DNA. This gives you information about your genetic predisposition, divided into different health topics:
- Genetic predisposition for diseases, linked to relevant preventive lifestyle advice-
Sensitivity to common medications and pharmaco-profile-
Personal characteristics
How does it work?
You will receive an iGene DNA kit at home with which you will take a DNA sample. You send this back with the provided return envelope. Your DNA is then analyzed in a medical laboratory and after 4 to 6 weeks the iGene Gene Passport is ready. You can access the results using the iGene app or download as a pdf report.
One-time test, lasting value
Your DNA is unique and remains unchanged throughout your life. A DNA test is therefore not a snapshot, but a valuable investment that provides information from which you can benefit throughout your life.

If you coordinate with us in advance, and enter our practitioner code, the other conditions can be turned off.
Disorders & lifestyle
You will be given information about 15 conditions for which it is useful, from a preventive point of view, to know something about your personal predisposition. Does it appear that you have an increased predisposition for a disorder? For each disorder you will receive an extensive list of tips and advice to help prevent the disorder.
Drug Sensitivity & Pharmacogenetics (including MTHFR)
DNA variations affect the activity of enzymes and transport proteins, resulting in many individual differences in the speed at which drugs are processed in the body. As a result, certain drugs may affect some people better than others, or you may suffer more side effects than someone else.
The DNA test preventively identifies the medications to which you may react abnormally. This allows a doctor or pharmacist to immediately choose the right medicine and dosage for you.
Pharmaco-profile
The pharmacogenetic report is an overview of your personal enzyme activity which you can easily share with your doctor or pharmacist.
Drug sensitivity
Any abnormalities in enzyme activity may affect drug action.
Personal Characteristics
This section provides information in the "fun or useful to know" category. The following topics are covered:
