Interleukin-2 receptor
Inerleukin-2 receptor (IL2R from serum).
This test should be interpreted by your practitioner.
When is this test requested?
In follow-up examinations after organ transplantation, assessment of the course of sarcoidosis and for the activity diagnosis of T cell lymphomas.

Soluble interleukin-2 receptor in serum correlates with the activation level of the T cell system. Elevated values occur in: Rejection/repulsion after organ transplantation, HIV infection, rheumatoid arthritis, tumors of the lymphatic system, and sarcoidosis.
Sarcoidosis is a rare disease in which, due to unknown causes, inflammation occurs. In such inflammation, white blood cells accumulate. These accumulations are called granulomas. The inflammations can occur almost anywhere in the body. The most common complaint is fatigue, which many people with sarcoidosis experience as the main limitation.
There is no drug that can cure sarcoidosis; the medication that may be prescribed is aimed at suppressing the inflammation. Most patients are between 20 and 40 years old when sarcoidosis is discovered
The soluble interleukin-2 receptor is not suitable for the diagnosis of sarcoidosis in renal failure and dialysis patients.
Analytical Method: Chemilumineszenz-Assay (CLIA)
