Light chain Lambda (free)
The Free Light Chains Type Lambda Test is recommended in the following situations:
- When monoclonal gammopathy is suspected: If there are clinical signs suggestive of MG or related conditions such as multiple myeloma or Waldenström's macroglobulinemia.
- Detecting and monitoring light chain amyloidosis (AL) and light chain deposition disease (LCDD), disorders in which protein accumulations cause damage to tissues and organs.
- As part of a comprehensive evaluation: In combination with other assays such as protein electrophoresis and determination of kappa light chains.
- Before and after treatment: To monitor response to therapies and adjust as needed.
- Routine follow-up: In patients previously diagnosed with MG or related diseases.
This test is requested for specialists only and is not supported by Blood Values Test. Please indicate when ordering that you will be discussing this with your practitioner.
Test details
- Sample requirement: 0.50 ml of serum
- Method: turbidimetry (TURB)
- Reference values: 5.71 - 26.30 mg/l
- Accreditation: Yes, according to ISO 15189
- reference values: 5.71 - 26.30 mg/l
Assessment: This test should be assessed in conjunction with free light chain type Kappa in the serum to determine the kappa/lambda ratio, which is crucial for correctly diagnosing and monitoring the above conditions.
