Less Libido, what's the cause?
To test whether your libido problems have a physical cause, this test involves the following blood tests:
- Free testosterone, testosterone total, SHBG
- Prolactin (pituitary gland)
- PSA (prostate)
- LH (hyposphysis, in men LH is needed for the production of testosterone)
- HbA1c (diabetes)
- Gamma GT (liver)
Cause of impotence
The most common causes are:
- certain medications (e.g. some anti-hypertension and anti-depressant products, performance enhancers or hair loss products)
- drug use
- smoking
- liver disease (usually due to alcohol abuse)
- vascular problems (e.g. due to arteriosclerosis, diabetes)
- neurological problems (as a result of a back injury or multiple sclerosis, for example)
- urological problems (as a result of e.g. prostate surgery or radiotherapy for prostate cancer)
- psychological problems (depression, fatigue, stress)
