Omega 3 Index RP
Omega 3 Index EDTA Blood RP
If the percentage of the two omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA in the blood is reduced, then the risk of sudden cardiac death is ten times higher than with an increased percentage. High omega-3 fatty acids are also more beneficial in mental illness. New studies show that the consumption of omega-3 fatty acids can positively influence disorders such as schizophrenia, (manic) depression and ADHD.
In theOmega-3 Index study, the values of omega-3, both as a proportion of the total available free fatty acids, are used to build the Omega-3 Index.
EPA and DHA are determined and these together form the Omega 3 index.
The reference value lies between | 8 and | 16 | % total free fatty acids |
The optimum value lies between | 9 and | 14 | % total free fatty acids |
