    Epstein Barr virus DNA (PCR) from EDTA blood

    This PCR test measures if the Epstein Barr virus is present at this moment. For the detection of the Epstein Barr virus at the first infection, the pfeiffer test is used, but to see if there is a reinfection, the PCR test is used.

    Direct diagnosis of EBV has added value especially when reactivation of a latent infection is suspected in people with an immune disorder. Reactivation ofEBV is associated with the development of lymphomas.EBV can be detected in blood by means of molecular techniques(PCR).

    The EBV is one of the most common viruses. EBV is getting more and more attention when there is also a persistent Borrelia infection.
