Epstein Barr Virus Blot
IgG Ebstein Barr virus blot test Pfeiffer test
A blot test such as the EBV Blot test provides more detailed information than a standard ECLIA antibody test because it detects specific proteins (antigens) of the virus and can distinguish between different stages of infection. This test provides a more accurate picture of possible EBV infection by detecting previous or chronic infections that a standard test may miss.
If you order this test without having done the general pfeiffer test first, EBV Blot IgG is automatically requested, to find out about an old infection.
The lab may also decide to do an IgM topical pfeiffer blot test as a confirmation test. Sometimes an old infection still displays IgM antibodies, even though there is no active infection if the IgM blot test comes back negative.
Pfeiffer's disease is detected when antibodies against the Epstein-Barr virus are present. If the liver is not spared, this disease can degenerate into inflammation of the liver (hepatitis).
If the Pfeiffer test shows a negative ENBA and a positive IgG or IgM https://www.bloodtesting.nl/pfeiffer.html, the test is automatically continued by means of this blotting test.
