Yersiniae IgG blot test from serum
Yersiniae IgG (blot YERGB) from serum to identify the cause of chronic bacterial infection by Yersinia.
Yersiniosis instead of Crohn's disease?
Yersiniosis is an acute or chronic infectious disease caused by Yersinia
Yersiniosis is mainly transmitted after consumption of contaminated food or water. A wide variety of symptoms and similarity to other diseases cause major diagnostic and therapeutic problems.
method: immunoblot (IB)
This test can be done in: Post-infectious, post-enteric arthritis, erythema nodosum,
Zekldzaam: anterior uveitis and tubulo-interstitial nephritis.
Post-enteric arthritis is an inflammation of the joints that can occur after a gastrointestinal infection, such as an intestinal infection caused by Salmonella, Shigella, Yersinia or Campylobacter. Symptoms of post-enteric arthritis may begin several weeks after the infection and include joint pain, swelling and stiffness, especially in the knees, ankles and feet.
Erythema nodosum is an inflammation of the subcutaneous fatty layer characterized by painful, red, swollen nodules or bumps that usually appear on the shins, ankles or feet. The cause of erythema nodosum can vary, but it can be associated with a number of infections, including gastrointestinal infections such as those mentioned above.
Sometimes post-enteric arthritis can be accompanied by erythema nodosum. This is also called Reiter's syndrome, which is characterized by post-enteric arthritis, urethritis (inflammation of the urethra) and conjunctivitis (inflammation of the conjunctiva). This syndrome is usually associated with certain bacterial infections, particularly Chlamydia trachomatis.
Treatment of post-enteric arthritis and erythema nodosum usually includes rest, pain relief and anti-inflammatory medication. Severe or persistent cases may require consultation with a specialist for further evaluation and treatment.
Anterior uveitis is an inflammation of the middle part of the eye, also called the uvea. This inflammation can cause pain, redness, blurred vision and hypersensitivity to light. Anterior uveitis can be caused by several factors, such as infections, autoimmune diseases or injury to the eye.
Tubulo-interstitial nephritis is an inflammation of the tissue surrounding the tubules of the kidneys, which are responsible for filtering waste products from the blood. This can lead to kidney failure, as well as other symptoms such as fever, fatigue and flank pain. Tubulo-interstitial nephritis can be caused by various factors, such as medications, infections or autoimmune diseases.
Occurring together in a patient, anterior uveitis and tubulo-interstitial nephritis may be a result of a systemic autoimmune disease such as lupus erythematosus or Sjögren's syndrome. It is important that patients with these conditions be evaluated and treated by an experienced physician to prevent complications and relieve symptoms.
